PHINEAS GAGE ELA APP concept
Based on the book “Phineas Gage”, a brain damage survivor as well as the most famous patient in the history of neuroscience, Takao led and participated a 2 days design workshop where 8 different teams developed their original ideas for the app and prototyped.
The idea of this app is a science-themed ELA (English Language Arts) learning app where students can collaborate within a team to investigate the detail of Phineas's brain injury and go through phases of writing discovery and assumption. The app allows students to answer challenge cards to earn points, to use simulation, and to watch scientific resources.
Students are collaborating with team members and finding any evidence for assigned task.
Team will tackle activity cards to accumulate higher points. An activity card with higher points have more challenging in terms of finding enough evidences.
Simulation tool enables students to investigate an evidence or cause of given task.
As team moves on further challenges, different materials become available for investigation
