I work at the beginning of things — finding possibilities, connecting disciplines that are usually kept separate, and turning ambiguous ideas into products, experiences, ventures, and systems people can actually react to.
Over 20+ years, I’ve worked across brand, product, education, interactive experiences, enterprise systems, and AI. The medium keeps changing. The instinct doesn’t: find the possibility, make it tangible, and create momentum.
Based in New York, working across the U.S. and Japan.
Learning has been a recurring part of my work — from designing large EdTech products to teaching typography, coaching startup founders, and making small games for kids. I’m especially interested in learning that feels like discovery rather than instruction.
Developed and taught an intensive course on Advanced Typography for the Graphic Design Department in NYC, exploring the intersection of historical typography, contemporary visual systems, and dynamic digital expression.
Mentored and coached 20 founders across emerging FoodTech and Blockchain startups in New York. Provided 1-on-1 strategic UX coaching, brand architecture, and rapid user-testing frameworks to accelerate product-market fit.
Designed tactile learning tools and classroom games, including kanji recombination puzzles that let children assemble character components like physical building blocks. Learning that feels like solving an intriguing puzzle rather than filling out another worksheet.
From undefined opportunity to concept, prototype, product, and early validation. Connecting user insight with viable business models.
Connecting business intent, story, identity, experience, film, and creative execution into a coherent narrative system.
Designing learning experiences people want to participate in — from large-scale education products reaching millions to small games and workshops.
Exploring how AI changes products, interfaces, workflows, decision-making, and the fundamental relationship between people and software. AI
Some ideas have stayed with me much longer than any particular medium. They form the underlying thread connecting my early books to my current AI frameworks.
Co-authored with Hisako Ichiki, Extra Ordinary: An Amusing Guide for Unleashing Your Creativity explored how to see possibilities in things we normally overlook. Looking back, it was the earliest articulation of the instinct that still guides my work today. 2005年、Hisako Ichikiとの共著で『Extra Ordinary: An Amusing Guide for Unleashing Your Creativity』(Rockport Publishing)を出版。
New ideas don’t fail from lack of creativity; they fail because unexamined assumptions narrow what seems possible. Break Bias is a structured method for surfacing and dismantling default industry, user, and business model biases before generating solutions.
Designing systems around human intent rather than predetermined UI paths. As AI becomes an active collaborator, software must interpret, clarify, and execute what the user actually wants to accomplish — shifting design from screen layouts to intent architectures.
My career has moved through branding, interaction, education, product design, enterprise systems, and AI. From the outside, those can look like separate careers. To me, they’ve mostly been different ways of asking the same question: What becomes possible when we change the way we look at the problem?
